Is It Possible To Travel To Pakistan From The UK?

To enter Pakistan or travel to Pakistan as a visitor, you will require a visa. You can find more information at the High Commission for Pakistan, London.

For inbound flights to Pakistan, passengers aged 12 or older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. There are exceptions.

If You’re Fully Vaccinated

Pakistan will accept vaccines that are on the WHO Emerging Use List.

The requirement to have a negative COVID-19PCR test performed on travellers who are vaccinated was removed by Pakistan on 24 February 2022.

Pass Track App users or web-based forms are required for Pakistani travellers to submit their contact information. On arrival, you may be required to complete a health declaration form. You can find links to the Pass Track App and government guidance from Pakistan on their COVID-19 webpage.

Valid proof of vaccination

For entry to Pakistan, passengers aged 12 or older must show proof of their vaccinations.

The UK will accept Pakistan’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record as well as proof of COVID-19 vaccine given in Crown Dependencies. The NHS appointment card issued by vaccination centres is not intended to be used for proof of vaccination.

If you’re not fully vaccinated

To fly to Pakistan, all passengers over 12 years old must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless one of these exemptions applies.

Children and young people

Children between 12-18 years old do not need to provide proof of vaccination in order to travel to Pakistan. However, they must present evidence that they have had a negative COVID-19-PCR test within 72 hours.

Pass Track App is not required for children under 5 years old. Upon arrival, however, a completed health declaration form is required.

Transiting through Pakistan?

Transiting refers to when you travel through another country while on your way to your destination.

Travellers who have been fully vaccinated are allowed to transit through Pakistan.

Land Borders

Most land borders between Pakistan and India, India, and Iran have been closed by the Pakistani authorities. The Pakistani authorities have limited access to the border for trade and repatriation. There are also reports of violence and crowding at open crossings. People crossing into Pakistan might have to submit to coronavirus testing or quarantine. Illegal entry into Pakistan is a serious offence. You could be detained or deported if you attempt to cross the border from Afghanistan without proper documentation. It is not possible to obtain regularisation of status for illegal entry. This is required for onward travel.

Exemptions

There may be exemptions from the vaccination rules for:

  • Passengers with a medical certificate that states they were not advised by a doctor to get a COVID-19 vaccination are exempted from this requirement
  • Temporarily exempt from duty are passengers aged 12-18 until 30 April 2022.
  • Travellers who travelled outbound from Pakistan prior to 1 October 2021 and have connecting flights in Pakistan.

You will need to show evidence that you have had a negative COVID-19PCR test within 72 hours of the travel date if one of these exemptions applies.

Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated travellers may apply to the Pakistani High Commission for an Exemptions Committee to travel to Pakistan.

Before entering Pakistan, travellers must submit their contact information via the Passtrack App and a web-based application.

Pass Track App does not apply to disabled passengers. They will need to fill out a form for health declaration upon arrival.

Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date you apply for your visa.

Make sure you check with your travel agent to ensure your passport and any other travel documents are compliant with their requirements.

Visas

You will need a visa if you are travelling to Pakistan with a British passport. Violations of visa laws can lead to a conviction and possible detention.

You should be aware that visas for journalists often include additional travel restrictions.

Returning to the UK

Passengers leaving Pakistan must have a valid passport, a Pakistani identity card, or a valid visa. Screening on departure

You must have a current vaccination if you plan to leave Pakistan. High temperatures may also require thermal screening. You will be allowed to travel if you have been vaccinated. A secondary screening will be done by a doctor if you are suspected of having symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, breathing difficulties). If you are cleared by the secondary screening, you will be permitted to board, provided you don’t have any symptoms, have not been exposed, and have not developed a fever. You may be asked for self-isolation for 14 days if you are found to have COVID-19 after the secondary screening. You might also be referred for medical treatment.
